Separate registration and service health
A domain can resolve and serve a valid certificate while approaching registration expiry. Monitor these signals separately. Registry dates may differ from registrar billing dates and do not prove that auto-renewal will succeed.
Check the published date
Use a supported RDAP lookup, then confirm the result in the registrar account. If the registry omits an expiry event or the TLD is unsupported, record the uncertainty instead of substituting a guessed date.
Prevent a renewal failure
Verify account access, renewal contacts, payment method and auto-renewal settings. Renew through the registrar and confirm the updated registration record after processing. Monitoring does not renew the domain.
Handle suspicious notices
Compare renewal notices with the registrar account before paying. A public registration date does not validate an emailed invoice. Keep ownership credentials private and document who can approve renewal.
